Lois Morgan's Obituary
Long-time Dallas resident Lois Glass Morgan, 93, died on January 10, 2021 of complications from COVID-19. Lois was born on June 12, 1927 to Carey and Effie Glass in Greensboro, NC. She and her older sister, Lyn, grew up on the Greensboro family farm. Lois met the love of her life, William (Bill) Morgan, when they were both 16 years old while working at the Belk’s department store in Greensboro. Bill and Lois married in 1948. A proud graduate of the University of North Carolina Greensboro, Lois cheered for North Carolina college teams for her entire life.
Lois was a stay-at-home mom to her three sons, David, Jeff and Brian. She enjoyed watching sports of all types, especially her favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys, North Carolina Tarheels basketball team, and the Dallas Mavericks. In addition to being an avid reader, Lois also enjoyed crossword puzzles and word games and, in her last years, old TV game shows. She was a long-time member of the Walnut Hill United Methodist Church. After Bill retired, the couple took numerous trips, including trips to Botswana, Zimbabwe, Dominican Republic, Hong Kong, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. They also enjoyed traveling around the US, visiting family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son Brian, husband Bill and sister Lyn. Lois will be dearly missed by her two surviving sons: David Morgan and wife Jill, Jeff Morgan and wife Sylvia, two grandsons: Matt Morgan and Chris Morgan, and three great grandchildren: Mia Morgan, Noah Morgan and Haven Morgan, two brothers-in law, two sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews, and dear lifetime friend, Mickey Hockett.
The immediate family held a private service remembering Lois on February 9, 2021. A donation in Lois’s memory may be made to the University of North Carolina Greensboro or a charity of your choice.
