Lois Slingerland's Obituary
Lois was born in El Paso of February 20, 1926 but lived much of her early life in Las Cruces, New Mexico where she met her future husband, Robert (Bob) Slingerland.When Bob returned from his World War II service in the Navy they were married in 1946. She attended New Mexico State University and received her degree in Home Economics in 1948 while Bob attended college at the New Mexico School of Mines in Socorro.Bob became a geologist in the oil business, so the growing family moved to Dallas, Midland, Lafayette, Louisiana and back to Dallas in 1969.In Dallas, Lois was homemaker, church children’s director at Lake Highlands UMC and a long-time volunteer at the local Lake Highlands nursing home.After Bob died in 2008 Lois moved to CC Young and finally moved to the Isle of Watercrest in Mansfield, Texas where she passed away on May 21, 2019.Lois is pre-deceased by her husband Robert Earl Slingerland, son Robert Eric Slingerland, brother John Anderson and sister Barb Baker. She is survived by her daughters Donna Cagle and Marcy Hoffpauir, son Phil Slingerland, sister Helen Treat, nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.Her funeral service will be held Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 12:30 PM in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home located at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75243.Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Lois Louise Marshall have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, which is located at 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243, and can be reached at (972) 238-7111.
