Lola Mae Freeman's Obituary
Lola was born on the 21st of November 1934, in the city of Dallas, Texas. Out of eleven children that were born to Sam & Ada McDonald, Lola was the tenth child. She had five sisters and five brothers. She is a member of the 1952 graduating class from Lincoln High School in South Dallas. After graduation, she entered Texas Women College in Tyler, Texas and while there at TWC, she became a member of the “AKA” Sorority. After returning back to Dallas, she met Cecil Freeman, and on October 23rd, 1954, they became husband and wife. In 2004 they celebrated their 50th Anniversary and what an accomplishment! To this union they gave birth to two sons, Reginald and Jason Todd Freeman. In 1959, Cecil and Lola moved to a community called Hamilton Park in North Dallas. From 1959 to 1969, she worked for Texas Instruments. After leaving TI, she moved forward with her pursuit to work for the Fairmont Hotel in downtown Dallas. Then she moved on to work for a private company and then became a partner in the Cleaning Business with her close friend Loretta Barnett. In the early 1960’s, she became a member of the First Baptist Church of Hamilton Park under the late Dr. J.L. Foster, where she served on the Usher Board and in Mission #1. Lola truly enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. She was known as the “Queen of Dominoes” and she never backed down from a challenge to play. Another one of her favorite past time was to play “BINGO” and planning trips across the country. Her smile, charm, personality and hospitality will be truly missed. Preceding her in death with whom now she has joined in heaven are: her husband for 53 years Cecil Freeman; both parents Sam and Ada McDonald; all of her brothers and sisters in the McDonald family. Leaving on this earth to cherish her memories are: Reginald & wife Pamela, their son Drake; Jason Todd & wife Valarie, their daughter Kimberly with special friend Nathan, and three great grandchildren Jaylon, Katlin, and Jevon, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and their families, neighbors and friends. A wake will be held Friday, September 7, 2012 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Service will be Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 11:00 AM both will be held at First Baptist Church in Hamilton Park, Richardson, TX.
