What a lady she was, what a life she led. I met Lola in 1963 when Bob brought me to Gilbert X-ray Company and again in 1979. Once I was in Lola’s long, long line of friends she always greeted me with that beautiful smile she had and made me feel I had a special place in her heart. I have had many missteps and stumbles throughout my life and Lola never changed in her love for me, even knowing all my warts. Some may look at Lola as having a charmed life, which she did. But know this, Lola worked hard for that
seemingly easy charmed life. In my early days with “The Company” it was normal for Bob to spread out across Texas working with the field representatives many days of each week, each month, leaving Lola to take charge of the home and Nancy, Beverly and Doug and the pets. The results of her efforts are shown through them, their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and the huge success Lola and Bob shared in all phases of living a loving and productive life all the while encouraging others to be the best they could be in doing the same. Anyone who knew Lola knew her pets and knew how much love she had for them, as they were family to her. My favorite story about Lola’s pets was a Yorkshire Terrier she had during Bob’s heavy traveling days. Bob often said the Yorkie loved the milk man, but always barked at him when he came home. Lola did many things well. One of those was she not only prepared and served delicious meals, her table was always set perfectly and looked terrific. I loved Lola. She never openly tried to change me, but always led the way for a better way to do things. All my love to the Sanford family, I will miss her, but many terrific memories remain and will only fade when I do. Darrell Axline
