It was my very great privilege in 1975 to meet Long Phan Huynh and his then-much-smaller family. Now it is my privilege to honor the memory of a Vietnamese hero, an American hero, and a beloved child of God.
His life, as that of his entire family, was difficult in the extreme. He persevered to see the family grow and become a credit to him and to his two countries.
Now I pray for him on the rosary he brought me from Fatima. That rosary is precious to me and so is the friendship of this extraordinary family.
