Lonna Elaine Atkins' Obituary
Lonna Elaine Atkins, 76, went to be with the Lord on December 13, 2017. Born January 10, 1941 to John and Lilie Hannan Borah in Dallas, Texas. Lonna was a graduate of Richardson High School and attended Texas Tech University. She married Jim Atkins in 1960, always together they traveled to many areas before settling back in the Dallas area. She most recently resided at Highland Springs, a caring and loving retirement home. Lonna loved traveling, attending church and going for walks. She took great joy in raising her two children and loved being a grandmother. She had a wonderful smile that could light up a room. She is survived by her husband, Jim Atkins of Dallas, TX; two children, Daryl Atkins and his life partner, Lee of Atlanta, GA; Tara Shaw and husband , Matt of McKinney, TX; Two grandchildren, Jessica and Jacob Shaw of McKinney, TX; two sisters, Gayle Knowles, husband Don, and Nina Omholt, both of Dallas, TX; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters. Memorial contributions on Lonna’s behalf may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association. A celebration of her life will be held at St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Plano, TX on December 19, 2017 at 4:00 PM.
