Lonnie Ray Ingram's Obituary
Lonnie Ray Ingram was born on May 29, 1932 in Wood County, Texas and passed away on March 5, 2016 at home in Mesquite, Texas. He was the youngest child of Lonnie Clifton and Myrtle Pollyann Ingram. He had four older sisters, Jean, Jo Reta, Mary and Edith and one brother Leonard. He always loved telling stories about growing up on the farm and the adventures that he had with his siblings. Around 1942 his family decided to move to Dallas. He attended Forest High School and after that he joined the Air Force. After completing his military service he obtained his GED. April 20 1967 On April 25, 1952, he tagged along on a Sunday School picnic that his mother was hosting and met 14 year old Barbara Ann Wilson. She immediately knew that he was the man she would marry even though he was 6 years older. They were married on April 20, 1956, two weeks after her 18th birthday. They had 3 children, Lonnie Ray, Jr; Leonard Carroll and Larissa Ann. He loved being a father. He supported his children by attending sporting events, served as the “Team Mom” and even coordinating PTA carnivals. He always loved being a father and an uncle but his real joy was found in being a grandparent. He loved each of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was constantly bragging to anyone who would listen that he had the smartest, cutest, and sweetest grandchildren. After a year-long fight with lung cancer, he quietly slipped away at home on March 5. He left this world holding the hand of the love of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Myrtle Ingram; Grandson, Adam Reilly; sister, Jean Hendrix and husband Oliver; sister Jo Reta Sammons and husband Al; sister Mary Vandiver and husband Paul; brother Leonard Ingram and wife Laverne; sister Edith Murphy and husband Joe; his niece Starr Proctor; father-in-law Leon Wilson & mother-in-law Mary Lou Wilson. He is survived by: his wife Barbara; son Ray and his wife Brenda; son Leonard and his wife Natalie; daughter Larissa and husband David Doss; Grandchildren Jennifer Ingram, Daniel Ingram, Allison Ingram, Jana Rodgers, Mycal Ingram, Megan Doss, Jennifer Kuehn, Jake Kuehn, Nicklaus Fuller, Britany Fuller, Morgan Fuller, Dillon Richards, Cristianna Fuller, Tyler Rodgers, and Gracie Rodgers. Great Grandchildren: Bradley Rodgers, Annabelle Kuehn, and Victoria Kuehn. He is also survived by his cat, Penny Lane and his grand-cat Roxanne. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 6- 8 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 2:30 PM at the Restland Memorial Chapel. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the children’s charity of your choice.
