Loraine Stanley Foster's Obituary
Loraine Foster, 95, passed peacefully from this world Saturday, October 31, 2009 at a local hospital in Abilene, Texas. Loraine was born to Ed and Sallie Stanley on February 25, 1914 in Blum, Texas. She married Howard A. Foster in Dallas on September 7, 1941, and they spent most of their 63 years together in Denton, Texas, until his death October 28, 2004. Her parents and a brother, Billy Stanley; and sisters, Edna Brister and Stella Luck precede her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Sally Doss and husband Bill of Abilene; and son, Bob Foster and wife Karen of Point; five grandchildren, Larry Doss and wife Julie of Lubbock, Trey Foster of Athens, Georgia, Brian Foster and wife Brea of Farmers Branch, Didi Pierce and husband Kyle of Abiline and Jennifer Foster of Amarillo. Seven great-grandchildren, Ashley and Allison Pierce of Abilene, Abby and Matthew Doss of Houston, Grace Shoop of Lubbock, Brittany and Ariel Foster of Farmers Branch also survive her. She moved to Abilene to be closer to her family in 2006. Loraine was a Christian and a long time member of Denton Baptist Temple. She was very influential on the lives of all who knew her. She was very active and began oil painting and learned to play the organ and piano after the age of 70. She enjoyed traveling and being around her loving family and friends. The family gratefully acknowledges Christian care from Dr. Tim Martin and the loving care provided by the staff of Wisteria Place Retirement Center and Hendrick Hospice. A graveside service will be held in Loraine’s honor at 9:00 am, Monday, November 2, 2009 in Restland Memorial Park, Court of Veterans II, with visitation held one hour prior to the service in Restland Funeral Home. Dr. R. Michael Waco will officiate.
