Loraine J. (Sam) McKinney's Obituary
Loraine J. (Sam) McKinney, was born October 2, 1918 in Barry, Illinois. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 17, 2009. Sam attended Union Bible Seminary in Westfield, Indiana and was active in his home church in Illinois, Calvary Baptist Church and Columbus Road Baptist Church with church sponsored programs. He was a member of Lavon Drive Church in Garland, Texas. Sam retired with Sears March 31, 1982 and became a full time father and grandfather and an avid gardener. He was preceded in death by his wife Callie Dee, daughters, Jo Ann Ramsey and Shirley McKinney; son, Harold Bentley McKinney; parents, John Frederick McKinney and Nellie May Stearns McKinney; brothers, Kenneth, Clifford, Lester and his twin brother, Lawrence. He is survived by two daughters, Janice Valadez and husband Juan of Dallas, TX, Judy McDonald and husband Bill of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Gary McKinney and wife Julie of Dallas, TX, Scott Pittman and Brad Wagner of Dallas, TX, Juan Valadez and Kay Crowder of Arlington, TX, Juan Jr and Juana Gamez of Irving, TX, Maria Gray and Karina Valadez of Irving, TX, Angela Metcalf of Daingerfield, TX, and Gregory Taylor and wife Pat of Dallas, TX; great-grandchildren, Heather McKinney of Dallas, Tx., Joey McKinney of Dallas, Tx, Natalie Summers of Missouri, James Metcalf of Daingerfield, TX, and Dylan Taylor of San Antonio, TX, Ahlmario, Ahlthalia, Ahlyari, Ahlzackeriah, Ahljosiah of Arlington, TX, Monika, Kassandra, Ernesto, Antonio Valadez of Irving, TX, Jeremy and Dominic Guerrero and Kendrin Gray of Irving, TX, Martin and Moises Martinez of Irving, TX; and great-great-grandchildren Holly Maio of Arizona and Denton Summers of Missouri. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Erma and Mary Thompson of Colorado, Louise McKinney of Barry, Il. Ruth McKinney of Oklahoma and brother-in-law, William Whitworth of Detroit, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was well taken care of these past few years by the wonderful staff at Doctor’s Healthcare Center in Dallas, TX. A special thanks to all of you who cared for him. Visitation will be Thursday, March 19, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, at Restland Funeral Home, and the funeral serivce will be Friday, March 20, 2009 in Restland’s Wildwood Chapel at 3:00 pm.
