Loretta "Lita" Abbu Pajo's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we share the peaceful passing of Loretta Pajo on May
25, 2024, at the age of 86.
Loretta “Lita” Abbu Pajo passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on
Saturday, May 25, 2024, at her home in Richardson, Texas, after suffering a stroke
in September 2023. She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed by her
husband, children, and grandchildren. Loretta is survived by her sister, Quenita
Dela Rosa, her husband of 59 years, Catalino “Lyn” (Papa); their two daughters
and spouses, Lourdes Pajo Pless (Michael), Lore Pajo Dickie (William, Sr); three
grandchildren to whom she was affectionately known as “Ema”, Maricela Dickie
Brooks (Nicholas), Marissa Dickie and William Dickie, Jr. Lita also leaves behind a
number of sister and brother-in laws, nieces and nephews for whom she adored.
Lita was born on December 12, 1937, in Mambajao, Camiguin in the Philippines.
She attended Balbagon Elementary and Fatima Junior College. In her early teens, a
volcano eruption forced her family to move to Jagna, Bohol, where she first met
Lyn. She met him again attending the University of San Carlos in Cebu City, and
earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Lita and Lyn were married
October 25, 1964, and later immigrated to the United States in 1967, arriving in
Tyler, Texas with two suitcases and $200 in their pocket. They later moved to the
Dallas area to raise their children.
Lita was a dedicated wife and mother, supporting her children throughout their
lives and into adulthood. She started working as a Cost Accountant Specialist at
AT&T/Lucent (formerly Bell South) in 1972. Lita succeeded at everything she did
with her steadfast diligence, her work ethic and her no quit attitude. Even with
English as her second language, she was proud that she was an accomplished
speller of the English language. She retired from the same company after 28 years
in May 2000. Lita was a faithful member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church
in Plano. Routinely off to Mass on Sundays, sporting her fashionable style, with a
touch of bling. She was the family prayer warrior; as she would pray the rosary for
each one of us on a specific day. Often you would find her at home praying with
Mother Angelica on EWTN. During her retirement, Lita loved to travel with her
husband, family and friends, attend her grandchildren’s events/activities and
enjoyed swimming. Later in life, it was the sense of togetherness that brought her
joy; family dinners, watching sports with Papa, outings with her daughters and
grandchildren, talking with family and friends, eating different foods, napping in
the sun, catching up on the latest celebrity gossip on TV/social media, watching
her favorite western shows and playing solitaire on her iPad.
Lita was kind and welcoming to all who had the opportunity to meet her. She was
happy to greet you with a radiant smile and warm embrace and was always ready
to feed you. Her ever-gracious generosity to her family was unmatched and
allowed us to travel the world.
Lita is now at peace with the Lord and with our Father. We are thankful for all that
she has given us, and we all will miss her dearly.
