Lorna married my father John Crocker after they both had lived out their vows of marriage to their first loves. By God's grace they found one another. She felt 'step' was a derogatory or a term she just didn't care for.
So she decided that my brother and I were her bonus kids. It was a very sweet and welcoming to us. I am saddened that she's past but I remain joyful that she is in the house of the lord reuniting with past loves and she rest easy knowing she was loved by all that came into her life. She will be missed.
