Lorna Ann Johnson's Obituary
Lorna Ann Johnson, age 91, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023, in Grapevine, Texas. She was born to Mr. Edmund Reely and Mrs. Ruth (Wendel) Reely on September 2, 1932, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She will be sincerely missed by her loving family, fellow teachers, students, friends and all the wonderful individuals who knew and loved her.
Lorna graduated from Highland Park High School (Scotts) at the age of 16 and received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Southern Methodist University. Lorna initially worked with faculty during the mid-1950s at the University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign in the Chemistry Department. After being a full time Mother in the 1960's, in the 1970's Lorna went on to teach Chemistry, Biology, and Environmental Science at L.V. Berkner High School in the Richardson Independent School district. During her tenure at Berkner High School, Lorna received the Texas Parks and Wildlife project WILD (Wildlife In Learning Design) Teacher of the Year Award and was featured in the April 1991 issue of Texas Parks and Wildlife magazine. After retiring from Richardson ISD, Lorna continued her teaching career at Richland College teaching Biology until the age of 87. Her main hobby was Photography; winning several first place awards at the State Fair of Texas among other competitions with her works.
She was preceded in death by Robert Lee Johnson, her husband of 66 years; parents Edmund and Ruth (Wendel) Reely; and brother Richard Reely.
She is survived by sons Michael Scott Johnson and wife Teresa Lee Johnson of Dripping Springs, TX., Mark Steven Johnson and wife Monica Jill Johnson of Colleyville, TX., grandchildren Matthew Austin Johnson, Makenna Christine Johnson, Valentina Marie Johnson.
Visitation for Lorna Ann Johnson will be Friday, December 29, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. A Service will be Friday, December 29, 2023 at 12:00 PM in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
