Lorraine Gallier's Obituary
Lorraine Alford Gallier, 93, passed away February 10, 2017. Born August 21, 1923 in DeRidder, Louisiana, Lorraine was the daughter of Major Fitzhugh Alford and Lucille Alford (nee Hatcher). She was preceded in death by her brother, Major, and her sister, Eloise, as well as her husband of more than 50 years, Allen Francis Gallier. She is survived by her three children, Theo Alford Gallier (Tina) of Ashland, Oregon, Martha Lucille Furlong (Gene) of Dallas, and Gregory Allen Gallier (Susan) of Brookfield, Illinois, and by her grandchildren, Audrey Eloraine Gallier and Grantham Bailey Gallier. After graduating from college, Lorraine married Allen and moved to Texas. She and Allen started their family in Beaumont, where they stayed until 1968, when Allen’s job took them to the Dallas area, where she remained for the rest of her life. There, as in Beaumont, Lorraine took great joy in her family as well as her many friends. For Lorraine was very much a “people person” and the feeling was mutual – she liked being with people and they liked being with her. With her positive outlook, sense of humor, and genuine interest in people, she was always enjoyable to be with, whether she was playing bridge, discussing a book, or just chatting. She will be missed. Flowers can be sent to the funeral home or memorial donations can be made to The Network, thenetwork.org, or Alzheimer’s Association, Alz.org/Greater Dallas. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm, Monday, February 13, 2017 at Restland Abbey Chapel with visitation 1 hour prior starting at 11:00 am in the chapel, burial to follow at Restland Memorial Park, Court of Faith. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
