Lorraine Elsie Phillips Cardwell's Obituary
Lorraine Elsie Phillips was born on May 31, 1930 in Cincinnati Ohio. While on vacation with her girlfriends in Florida, she met a handsome soldier, Edward Ray Cardwell, who was with his buddies on vacation. The two quickly felt a connection and began corresponding with long distance letters. They decided to wed as soon as Edward returned stateside after being stationed with the military in England. On November 1, 1952 Lorraine and Edward were married at Immanuel Evangelical & Reformed Church, Cincinnati, OH. They moved to New Mexico where Edward was stationed and Lorraine worked as a secretary to begin their marriage of 65 years together. After they started their family, they moved back to Ohio. They settled down to raise their three children, Jeffrey, Gary and Sharon. Lorraine was a devoted wife and mother as they made moves to Texas, Arkansas, Georgia and back to Texas in support of her husband’s career. Lorraine loved music and could often be caught singing and dancing around the house. Her church life was also very important to her. One of her favorite accomplishments was selecting and coordinating the installation of the faceted glass windows that adorn the Arapaho United Methodist Church sanctuary. Once retirement arrived, Lorraine enjoyed seeing friends and family, adding to collections from shopping and traveling, and playing bridge regularly with a group of friends.Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Charlie Phillips, and her daughter Sharon Hahs. She is survived by husband Edward Cardwell, son Jeffrey Cardwell of Dallas, TX, son Gary Cardwell and wife Cindy of Springdale, AR, grandson Braden Hahs and wife Sarah of Rhome, TX, granddaughter Megan Godfrey and husband Daniel of Springdale, AR, grandson Matt Cardwell of Dallas, TX, grandson Brad Cardwell of Fayetteville, AR, and granddaughter Jacey Cardwell of Dallas, TX. She was blessed with five great grandchildren Kason, Zuzu, Korbin, Cale and Jude. Lorraine passed on 1-14-18 at Sunrise Senior Living of Plano, TX. Remembrances for Lorraine might include flowers or donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or Arapaho United Methodist Church.Visitation will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Restland Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 10:00 am at Arapaho United Methodist Church with entombment 1 hour prior.
