Lorraine Cogswell Vassak's Obituary
Lorraine C. Vassak, age 97, passed away 4/22/2011. She was born 11/12/1913 in Hillsboro, Texas and became a resident in Dallas in 1920. She was employed by D.I.S.D. administration for many years and retired to pursue her interests in gardening, friends, family, and church activities at Skillman Ave. Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her loving husband George A. Vassak in 1981. In 2004 Lorraine moved to Richardson to her new home, “Appletree Court.” There she made many new friends and was cared for by true angels. She leaves behind her sister Mildred Stalnaker, of Plano, nephew Bob Stalnaker and wife Susan, of Richardson, nieces Beth Collins and husband Doug, of Plano, and Mary Ann Dreyling and husband Max, of Kerrville, great niece Amy Stalnaker, of Richardson, and great nephew Ryan Stalnaker and wife Rebecca, of Washington D.C. Her family gives very special thanks to Mike Rylee of “Unlimited Care” and Lorraine’s tireless caregiver Winnie. Services will be held at 9:30 A.M. Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Restland’s Abbey Chapel with Rev. Jerry Perry officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.
