Louis Corneleus Brown's Obituary
Louis Cornelius Brown, the eldest of 12 children, was born to Dallas and Ellen Brown in Denison, Texas on July 31, 1932.In 1950, Louis joined the Army. He was a decorated soldier who saw combat in the Korean War, earning the Purple Heart, Korean War Service Medals, and several other honors.After being discharged from the Army in 1953, Louis moved to Dallas, Texas where he married Julia F. Davis on June 12, 1954. From this marriage, four children were born. He was a faithful, committed husband and father who spoke and demonstrated his love for his family.CareerLouis followed his love for working on cars and became the owner and operator of a Texaco Gas Station. He later sold the station to begin a 20-year career as a typewriter and copier repair specialist at IBM. After retiring from IBM in 1987, he returned to self-employment and operated a copier repair business for 20 years.Church and CommunityLouis was a faithful member and servant of Hamilton Park United Methodist Church. While at Hamilton Park UMC, he served as Trustee, President of the United Methodist Men, Sunday School Teacher and faithful servant. Louis was well known for his dedication to cooking the Men’s breakfast each month.Louis served his community as a devoted member of the Hamilton Park Civic League.His LifeLouis loved fishing, cooking, listening to jazz, and every now and then, getting a chance to go dancing with his wife. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. As a father, he was loving but stressed discipline, good conduct and character. Louis modeled good behavior to his children. Louis instilled in his children’s character to let your “Yea be Yea and your Nay be Nay.” Louis taught his children to view life as a gymnast by stressing the task was not complete until you successfully dismount.”His LegacyLouis was preceded in death by his daughter Ellenar Sherrard; father Dallas Brown; mother Ellen Brown; brothers Joe Brown, Richard Brown, David Brown; sisters Tommie Billups, and Diane Kennedy.He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 64 years, Julia F. Brown; daughter Cornelia “Connie” Lyles (Rod); sons Louis C. Brown Jr., Lance Brown; daughter by love not blood, SaWanda Coleman; brothers John Brown (Nora), Ken Brown (Mildred); sisters Joyce Neal, Glenna Martin, Virginia Eubanks, Candace Moore (Robert); 7 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of family members and friends.Visitation for Mr. Louis Corneleus Brown will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Hamilton Park United Methodist Church.
