I was shocked and saddened to learn of Bob's passing. Bob was my teacher at SMU in the 70's and his influence is always with me.
I took his guitar instructions at El Centro junior college in 1969. I did complete
my guitar degree at The University of California Irvine under Frederick Noad.
Mr Guthrie gave me the inspiration to earn a degree in classical guitar performance. I know I would have ended up in Vietnam if not for Robert coming into my life.

Just learning this day of my dearest friends passing leaves me in profound sadness. Meeting him in 1964 we shared many wonderful experiences in many states and often playing duets together in both our homes. So incredible was our friendship… I know this world contains no other person I could have been closer to . I pray to see you again Bob . Philip Conrad .
