Louis Marius Vachier's Obituary
Louis Vachier’s Obituary:
Written by Haylie Gore
Louis Marius Vachier, at 76 years young, a light-hearted, full-of-life father, husband, grandfather,
and recent great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 28th, 2022, in Dallas, Texas.
Louis was born in a boulangerie on November 7th, 1945, in Thodure, France, to Roger and
Andrée Vacher. This is the beginning of his life as a french patissier. In 1963, he joined the
French navy and traveled the coast of Africa. In October 1968, he married Micheline A. Orsaldo,
and raised a son and a daughter, James and Louisette.
Louis traveled throughout France, Puerto Rico, and the United States, bringing the taste of
French pastries and home cooking with him through various positions and apprenticeships at
Hyatt Regencies, Peachtree plaza, the Playboy Club hotel, Brennans, and the El Conquistador.
This renowned chef was most proud of his 800-lb beautiful cake made for the Wade Hampton
Hotel. His passion was his delicate and precise decorations of cakes and small french pastries.
He loved his work and always offered to provide a small taste of France to be admired and
appreciated. Unfortunately, though, he would never share his recipes. Despite the many news
clippings, awards, and certificates, Louis admired his family and friends. Louis would tell
fantastic life stories with the hopes of us taking these as advice and not taking life so seriously.
He wanted us to take the time to smell the flowers. He loved original songs by Edith Piaf, a good
cigar, margarita, and a good game of Pétanque with pastis along with close companions. His life
was full of experience, laughter, love, and good people he showed great appreciation for. Louis
was a man you could never forget, he was a unique, simple, and fearless man.
Louis is survived by his wife Micheline, his two children, James and Louisette, his four
grandchildren, Haylie, Ashley, Adriana, and Candice, his great-grandchild, Siham, and his
dearest friends. He has a big smile and a full laugh in the many memories we hold. He took life
by the shoulders and ensured every experience, moment, and memory soaked in. Louis leaves us
all with a great quote “Do not be sad when I am gone, be happy that you knew me.” We love you
so much and will miss you immensely. May you rest in peace with mémé and pépé vacher,
Marie-Thérèse, and Jean LaFont.
