Louise Abbott's Obituary
Sherman – Louise Abbott was born October 23, 1918, in Clayton, New Mexico to the late Robert C. and Mary (Barton) Labenski. Louise 99 years passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Texoma Healthcare in Sherman, Texas. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Memorial Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Chris Moses of Fairview Baptist Church in Sherman, Texas will officiate.Louise was a North Dallas High School graduate. She married her late husband Gordon A. Abbott in September 1938 at Trinity Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. They were married 58 years.Family was the greatest joy to Louise. She always said “I have the best family in the world.” She loved taking care of her grandchildren and making memories by letting them spend the night and go on vacations with her and her husband. She was known to her family as “Mamaw.” She will be missed as the matriarch of the Abbott family.Louise was a Christian woman. When she was younger she was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas and taught a group of challenged students in Sunday School and later a class of teenage girls. She later moved her membership to Wilshire Baptist Church. She loved to read, sew, crochet and needlepoint making many beautiful pictures that hang in family members’ homes today.Louise worked for many years at the former Wolf Bros. in North Park Mall in men’s furnishings. She was well known for her ability to coordinate colors and many Dallas city officials and business men ask for her to coordinate their wardrobes.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Robert G. Abbott, sister Mary Lou Muether and nephew Jim Muether. She is survived by her son Stanley G. Abbott and wife Diane of Canyon Lake, daughter-in-law Vicki Abbott of Sherman, granddaughters Donna Meckel and husband Dale and Paula Griffith and husband Bobby all of Canyon Lake and Robin Mrozinski of Sherman; grandsons Robert G. Abbott, Jr and wife Carole of Frisco, Jeff T. Abbott and wife Stormy of Colbert, OK, Chris Abbott of Denison and Patrick Abbott of San Antonio; ten great grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and one step-great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a favorite charity.The family expresses a heart felt thank you to the nurses and aides at Texoma Healthcare and to the Heart to Heart Hospice nurses and staff for the loving care they gave Louise.
