Louise Mecaskey's Obituary
Louise was born October 23, 1921, in Dallas, Texas and passed away May 7, 2017, in her home in Presbyterian Village North in Dallas. She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Pearl Oliphant, her sister Dorothy Clark, brothers Richard, Wayne and Jerry Oliphant and her husbands, Ed Estridge and Arthur Mecaskey. She is survived by daughters Linda Imhoof and her husband Mike and Diane Elmer and her husband Ken (California), grandchildren David Imhoof (Pennsylvania), Karen Austin (Dallas), Melissa Aufdenkamp (California), Rebecca Elmer (California) and Katherine Lecco (Washington), and great grandchildren Lauren, Natalie Austin, Katelyn, Rhett, Madison and Makenzie. Louise graduated from Forest High School in Dallas. She married Ed and had two daughters, one born in Arizona while her husband was serving the U.S. Army and the other was born in Dallas following the war. She then began a successful career with the U.S. Government, including 25+ years as an IRS analyst. After her first husband passed away, she married Art and they had many happy years together. She loved to give parties with great food, and she loved to play bridge and travel. Louise was a beautiful woman inside and out. More than anything she loved and was committed to her family. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress and loved to prepare meals and sew for her children and grandchildren. She also had a beautiful voice and sang many solos for her church. In her later years she was a member of Wilshire Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in their senior choir. The family wishes to thank the staff of Presbyterian Village North, especially the wonderful caregivers at The Terrace at PVN, for their loving care and support and for making her last days there so happy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Presbyterian Village North. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 11, 2017, from 6-7 PM at Restland Funeral Home. The service will be held the following day on Friday, May 12, 2017, at 10 AM at Wilshire Baptist Church.
