Louise Griffin Thompson's Obituary
Louise Griffin Thompson, who celebrated 92 years on this Earth, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2020 in Garland, Texas.
Louise was born on February 17, 1928 in Deport, Texas to her parents: Aleck and Zura Griffin. She was the third of four children. Her childhood was spent on her family's cotton farm in Rugby, Texas during the era of The Great Depression and World War II. Louise was the valedictorian of her high school class and attended college at East Texas State in Commerce, Texas.
After college, Louise moved to the Dallas area where she met Edwin Thompson and they were wed on September 19, 1948 in Rockwall, Texas. She secured a job at Kraft Foods in Garland where she served proudly for 39 years. Following her retirement, Louise devoted her energy to her beloved grandchildren: Jeremy, Michelle and Marty. She was passionate about her Catholic Faith. Louise energetically pursued her hobbies of genealogy and computer technology, both of which she adopted after the age of 60.
She is survived by her daughters: Linda Byrd of Garland, TX and Kathy Quish of Garland, Texas; 3 grandchildren and a host of other loving family and friends.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated by Father Jesus Chavez on Tuesday, June 30 at 1:30 PM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church: 600 Jupiter Rd. Richardson, TX. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery.
