Loveda Ann Proud's Obituary
Loveda Ann Proud, age 77 of Dallas, Texas, passed away on September 8, 2024 at 12:51 a.m. at T. Boone Pickens Center-Faith Presbyterian Hospice in Dallas, Texas. She was born February 13,1947 in Waxahachie, Texas; and was the daughter to Olen and Edna (Gardner) Yarbrough. She graduated from Italy High School where she grew up and met Hal Jenkins whom she was married to for nine years and they had twin daughters Tisa (Jenkins) Ledgerwood and Lisa (Jenkins) McNeme.
Growing up Loveda helped her parents at the “Yarbrough City Cafe”, downtown Italy, was an Italy cheerleader, played basketball and was well loved throughout the town. As an adult she worked for Haggar Slacks and later at Employers Insurance of Texas where she met her late husband of 29 years; Ernest L. Proud.
She is survived by her two daughters: Tisa Ledgerwood (and husband Craig of Coppell, Texas); and Lisa McNeme (and husband Raymond of Frisco, Texas). She is also survived by her sister, Donna Cate (and husband Jackie of Italy, Texas);
Loveda also leaves behind five grandchildren, Eddie Provencio, Evan Provencio, Eric Provencio, Collin McNeme and Meagan Jones (and husband Evan); two great-grandchildren, Cole Jones and Emma Jones; and two nephews, Jackie D. Cate (and wife Amy) and Ken Cate (and wife Kelly) of Italy, Texas.
Loveda also shared three stepchildren by her late husband Ernest L. Proud; Fred Proud, Russell Proud (and wife Lisa) with two grandchildren, Cindy Braddock (and husband Mark) with seven grandchildren; as well as additional great-grandchildren.
Loveda was preceded in death by her parents Olen and Edna (Gardner) Yarbrough, Hal Jenkins (Tisa and Lisa’s father) and her late Husband of 29 years, Ernest L. Proud, who was devoted to his family, especially Loveda.
She was a woman of unconditional love and had a strong devotion to helping her family and others; including donations to various charities, too many to count. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and loyal friend. We will miss you dearly “Mama”.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Restland Memorial Chapel and will be followed by a catering reception at the Event Center at 9220 Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243 (across the street). Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice in lieu flowers.
