Lovurta Beatrice Gurley's Obituary
Born August 28, 1913 in Oklahoma Marshall County (near Madill), she was the daughter of Oliver and Nina Wilkerson and accepted the Lord Jesus at the age of 15. She finished her primary education in Ardmore. Lovurta married J. Hulen Gurley, May 20, 1939 at First Baptist Church, Ardmore, OK and they moved to Dallas in 1942. She was employed at Pollock Paper-St. Regis as executive secretary for 36 years. A member of Jane Douglas Chapter D.A.R., and the Cornelian Club. The Gurleys were long-time members of Gaston Oaks Baptist Church having joined that Church in 1953, Mrs. Gurley went to be with her Lord in the presence of her family January 9, 2009. Survivors include sisters, Heloise Ridgway and Dorothy Bertine and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be held at 12:30PM, Monday, January 12, 2009 at Restland Wildwood Chapel, with Rev. Charley Fenner officiating. Interment to follow in Restland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, you may make contributions to Naomi Class. All gifts may be addressed to Gaston Oaks Baptist Church, 8515 Greenville Ave, #S205, Dallas, TX 75243.
