Loyce Marie Hilburn's Obituary
Loyce Marie Capps Hilburn: born on 29 May 1927 in Knight, Polk, Texas to the parents of James Elmer Capps (5 Nov 1869-12 Mar 1947) and Mary Annie Elizabeth (Bethanie) Mathews (1 Apr 1903-18 Apr 1948). She married Billy Hilburn, son of Mary Odessa Hilburn (1901-1976), on 24 Dec 1944 in Corpus Christi, Texas witnessed by naval friends. Loyce enjoyed plants, quilting, square dancing and fishing. Traveled all 48 continental United States, Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean. Retired in Trinidad, Henderson, Texas for 22 years in a log home which she and her husband built from the ground up and finished with their own two hands, she would wake each morning to the longhorn cattle at the nearby ranch and go fishing on Cedar Creek Lake. She died on 13 Oct 2009 peacefully at home per her request at the age 82 of Pancreatic Cancer. She leaves her husband, Billy Hilburn, of 65 years; her four children, Sidney Lloyd Hilburn (Diane Joyce Burns) of Coppell, Texas, Elizabeth Win Hilburn Plata (Joseph Rivas Plata) of Rush Springs, Oklahoma, Terry Lynn Hilburn Peck (William Alan Peck) of Memphis, Tennessee, Del Ray Hilburn (Michelle Winsome Veeck) of Mesquite, Texas. Seven grandchildren, Theresa Jo Plata, Christine Elizabeth Plata Moran, Anthony Che Plata, Victoria Lyn Plata Martin, William Steven Peck, Katie Alison Peck, Sarah Lynn Peck, six great grandchildren, two beloved Chihuahuas and her sister Mettie Bernice Capps Houchins of South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her 3 brothers, Elcanah Loddie Capps, Amon Capps, Harvey James Capps, and 4 sisters, Effie Lavalier Capps McMillian, Johnnie Mae “Helen” Capps Corsale, Sadie Ellen Capps Stephens, and Violet Leona Capps Baker.
