Luada Jo Sifferd's Obituary
Luada Jo Sifferd, age 85, of Dallas, Texas rejoined her husband of 66 years, Daniel William Sifferd on April 18, 2020. She was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma on September 2, 1934, to John and Evorah McPherson. Lu graduated from Ponca City High School in 1952 and married Daniel Sifferd on August 23 of the same year. Lu and Dan were pleased to call Dallas home for over 40 years following frequent job related moves.
She is survived by her three children, Karen Schmidt and husband David of Midland, Daniel Sifferd II of Dallas, and Lori Casey and husband Joe of Dallas. Five grandchildren, Douglas Schmidt of Midland, Nicholas Trlica of Richardson, Kristin Schmidt of Midland, Jennifer Carpenter and Elizabeth Carpenter, both of Dallas.
The oldest of seven children, Lu was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John McPherson. She is survived by two brothers, Larry McPherson and Ronnie McPherson, three sisters, Linda Bostwick, Sandra Hare, and Jackie Denton, in addition to numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Lu was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She helped raise her younger siblings while their mother worked and served as a role model for those close to her. Lu loved her children and grandchildren deeply; she was happiest surrounded by her family and sharing a lovingly prepared meal to celebrate a birthday, holiday, or other special occasion.
Servant leadership was the mission of Lu’s life, whether as an insurance adjuster at Continental Insurance (later Underwriter’s Adjusting Company and CNA) or as a lay leader at Community Christian Church where she served as Elder and Deacon, or Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, where she joyfully volunteered in her later years.
A private family burial will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2020 with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Community Christian Church, 1300 Holly Drive, Richardson, TX 75080.
