Luann Bliss Tucker Welch's Obituary
Luann Bliss Tucker Welch, age 87, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2024, in Dallas, Texas while among loved ones. She was born in Midland, Michigan on September 9, 1936, to Marguerite Mary Wing Bliss and Luman Albert Bliss. She lived her childhood in Midland with her older twin sisters Barbara Bliss Staley and Bethany (Beth) Bliss Hignite. Luann graduated from Midland Sr. High School and attended Central Michigan College. Luann married James (Jim) Larry Tucker in 1956, starting their married life in Midland with subsequent moves to St. Louis MO, San Pedro (Los Angeles), CA, Houston, TX, and eventually settled in Dallas, TX. She was widowed in October, 2010, after 54 years of marriage to Jim, and was then blessed by a second marriage of 10 years to Paul Hesse Welch who died in September, 2023.
Luann worked for Dow Chemical Company and later owned two businesses: Your Type and Special Occasions, and retired from James Avery Craftsman after 17 years of service. When not working, Luann enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and friends, and rooting for her favorite teams - the Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks. She was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, serving in various capacities for over 45 years. She was an active member of the Contemporary Chorale, P.E.O Chapter DO, the P.E.O. Chorus, and Encore. She valued community service and passionately served The Clothes Horse Board, Food Pantry, and Parkinson Voice Project.
Luann was preceded in death by her husbands: Paul Welch and Jim Tucker, her sisters: Barbara and Beth, her son: James Dudley (J.D.) Tucker, and a countless number of dearly loved relatives and friends.
She is survived by her two sons & wives: David & Julie Tucker, Paul & Amy Tucker, former daughter-in-law & husband: Colette & Scott Walsh, stepdaughter & husband: Kimberly (Welch) & John Roberson, and stepson & wife: Andrew & Shelly Welch. Luann was blessed with eleven grandchildren, step-grandchildren and honorary-grandchildren: Ava Maudeen Tucker, Evan Tucker, T.J. Tucker, Nina Tucker, Annie Tucker, Sarah Walsh Poynor, Elijah Walsh, James Roberson, William Roberson, Taylor Welch and Sean Welch.
Services for Luann will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024, 1:00 pm at the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, 14115 Hillcrest Dr., Dallas, TX 75254.
