Lucille Thayer's Obituary
THAYER, LUCILLE passed peacefully into the hands of Our Lord on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the age of 85. She was at her home in Garland, Texas. Lucy was born on December 1, 1927 to loving parents, Elmer and Millie Traver in Woodward, Oklahoma. She attended elementary and high school locally, graduating in 1946. Lucy left home soon after to attend Phillips University and Enid Business College. Arriving in Dallas, Texas in 1950, she soon pursued a career with State Farm Insurance where she was employed for forty years, retiring in 1990. Lucy married the love of her life Phil in February 1962, they enjoyed thirty-one wonderful years together. Phil left Lucy’s loving arms in April 1993. Her love for music led her to an organ class for seniors at Romeo Music in the fall of 1993 where she learned to play beautifully. She purchased a beautiful organ and placed it in her sunroom and enjoyed it almost daily. Lucy also enjoyed a LIFE club she joined through her organ group. To brighten her days with fun and frolic the Fun & Sassy Club came to the rescue, this Red Hat Group enjoys many activities throughout each month. Lucy touched many lives and formed many close friendships through the years. Gardening and photography were avid hobbies. Lucy is survived by loving members descended from the Mote, Traver and Thayer families, as well as, many friends. She was preceded in death by Elmer Traver (father), Millie Mote Traver (mother), Philip G. Thayer(husband), and many other loving family members. Also, her beloved kitties JR, Junior and Little Sister. Our Lucy was kind, had a generous spirit and a big heart! Lucy found peace and love through Jesus Christ and her Episcopal faith. She will be truly missed and never forgotten! Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 12:30 PM at Restland Wildwood Chapel.
