Lucinda Jean Dobbs' Obituary
Dallas, Texas – Lucinda Jean Dobbs passed from her earthly life to that of her Heavenly Father in the early morning of November 3, 2020 at Parkland Hospital, Dallas, TX. She was born July 21, 1951 to her parents Lt. Col. James Robert Dobbs and Eleanor Burleson Dobbs at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.
Ms. Dobbs received her undergraduate degree in Psychology/Sociology from Trinity University in San Antonio. She embarked on a career in Child Welfare in Texas and continued her sociological work by running a group home for high risk teenage girls in California.
Ms. Dobbs was a talented musician and artist, especially delighting in writing, drawing/painting, caligraphy and crafts. She was a passionate lover and rescuer of cats.
In 1989, she began a 31 year Domestic Partnership of friendship and sisterhood with her longtime friend, Paulette Gibson. Ms. Dobbs was predeceased by her brother Michael Dobbs, her brother-in-law, David Gibson and her grandniece Makenna Parker. She is survived by Ms. Gibson, her sister, Barbara Jane Dobbs, her sisters-in-law, Susan Dobbs and Theresa Gibson and foster sister Judybelle Moates; beloved nieces, nephews and their children: Megan Dobbs Eades and husband Brian with children Turner and Avery Eades; Matthew Dobbs with children Braden and Brecken Dobbs, and Alexis Parker; Melanie Dobbs Bird and husband Gary with daughter Avery Bird; Morgan Dobbs and wife Rachel with children Owen, Isobel and Paisley Dobbs; Jade Conlee (daughter of sister Barbara); Shelby Gibson Meeks and wife Rebekah Meeks; Sabrynna Gibson; and child of her heart Michael Wiles.
Throughout her life, Lucinda cared for and worked with children at risk, especially teenagers. To celebrate her life, donations to the Dare to Dream Childrens Foundation would be welcome.
