Lucinda Garcia Gursky's Obituary
Lucinda (Lucy) Garcia Gursky, 87, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2023, in her son’s home in Dallas Texas. She was born on July 30, 1935, in Nueva Ecijah, Philippines to Manuel C. Garcia and Luz M. Garcia.
Lucy earned her BS Chemistry degree, cum laude, from the University of the Philippines. In 1955, she moved to the United States to pursue an MS Chemistry from the University of Connecticut. She worked for Standard Brands/Nabisco Foods as a senior research chemist for 30 years. Lucy was an accomplished scientist in the field of mass spectrometry research methods and a published author of multiple molecular gastronomy analysis papers.
Lucy was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed having family and friends visit at her home in New Jersey, hosting sumptuous meals, celebrating holidays and taking guests to New York City for a tour or a broadway show. Lucy was a wellness advocate; She participated in aerobics, jazz and tap dance into her eighties. Lucy was a kind, compassionate and generous soul who touched the lives of countless people with her warmth and grace. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Lucy is preceded in death by her husband Thomas H. Timbol, second husband, Clarence W. Gursky, and sister Cynthia Garcia Doronila.
Lucy is survived by her son, Thomas (Tito Flores) Timbol; Grandson Nate Timbol; Step sons Kurt and Scott Gursky; Step grandchildren Brittany, Brandon and Clarissa Gursky; Sister Ofelia (Francis) Lo and brother Manuel (Teresita) Garcia Jr. and their families; Ethel Beraquit (cousin), Marivic Yambot (niece) and dear friends Bernadette (Todd Kennedy) Vida, Alta Felarca and Cecilia Parasmo.
Visitation and Funeral service will take place on March 24, 2023 at 9:00AM at Madison Memorial Funeral Home in Madison, New Jersey. Interment service will follow at 12:00PM at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover, New Jersey.
