Lucy Elizabeth Ponder Froese's Obituary
FROESE, LUCY ELIZABETH PONDER born March 23, 1924, in Lubbock, Texas, to William Freeman Ponder and Nannie Gay Albritton Ponder. Lucy went home to be with her Heavenly Father August 16, 2014, after complications of surgery at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. She graduated from Frost (Texas) High School and attended Hillsboro Junior College (now Hill County College). She worked for several local insurance-related companies, including General Adjustment Bureau, Zurich Insurance Company and Crum and Forster Insurance, from which she retired. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church, Dallas. Preceded in death by her father and mother; husband of almost 60 years, Felix Abraham Froese; brothers, William Ponder Jr. and David Ponder; and sisters, Norine Ponder and Catherine Ponder Stockard; brothers-in-law, Denver Wright and Wilmer Froese; and sisters-in-law, Ava Nell Ponder and Martha Froese. Survived by daughters Judy Kay Froese Alexander, San Antonio, and Susan Gay Froese, Dallas; two grandchildren, Holly Heslop Jones and Dustin Ray Heslop, both of Dallas; two great-grandchildren, Autumn Marie Jones and Ethan Scott Jones, both of Flower Mound; sisters Gay Wright, Corsicana, and Robbie Elmore, Hurst; brothers-in-law, Harold Elmore, Hurst, and Buford Stockard, Corsicana; sister-in-law Ann Ponder, Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by Terry Ray Heslop, Garland, and Jerrell Winn Henslee, Whitewright. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, August 21, at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held Friday, August 22, at 3:00 PM at Restland Wildwood Chapel followed by Interment after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Children’s Ministry of First Baptist Church, Dallas.
