Ludwig August Schirm's Obituary
Celebrating the Life of Ludwig A. Schirm, son of Karl Johann Schirm and Rosa Zorn
Schirm, was born on September 11, 1931 in Karlstadt, Germany (Bavaria). He was the
second of three children and the oldest son. He immigrated to the United States in 1957
settling in Philadelphia, PA where he established a mechanical engineering and design
firm. In 1984 he moved to Dallas, where he secured a position as an Estimator at DFW
Mechanical Services and companies that subsequently emerged from DFW. At the age of
85, he retired from Atmos Mechanical Services to pursue his hobbies of number
crunching.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Darlene Dalman Schirm, his brother Karl
Schirm, and his four children, Yvonne, Nikki, Kurt and Kate, and their significant others.
Ludwig was particularly proud of his seven grandchildren.
He was proud to be a German-American, and particularly enjoyed every precious
moment with his friends and family. He was a talented athlete, particularly skilled
as a goalie in both soccer and handball.
Graveside service for Mr. Ludwig Schirm will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 beginning at 12:00 pm at Sparkman Hillcrest Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements for Mr. Schirm have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, which is located at 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243 and can be reached at 972-238-7111.
