Luis Velez's Obituary
Luis Velez, aged 77, of Frisco, Texas passed on January 14th, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 4th, 1949, in Colón, Panama, Luis proved to be an adventurous and ambitious soul. As a teenager, he immigrated to the United States with his family and called the Bronx his home. He was a lifelong fan of the Yankees, lover of boxing and avid salsa dancer.
In early adulthood, Luis became a Staff Sergeant of the US Marine Corps, defending our country in Vietnam. He later earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from Hunter College and became a Certified Public Accountant. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to later opening his successful tractor-trailer company.
Through his business venture he met the love of his life, Arelys (spouse), who he was married to for over 40 years. Forever a lover of exploration, Luis adventured across the US, visiting over 40 states and numerous countries.
Luis Velez was an unstoppable force, fighting Leukemia four times before his passing. He will be remembered as a loving and dedicated husband, father, and brother. Luis is survived by his wife Arelys, and seven children.
A funeral service in his honor will be held on January 28th, 2026, at 12:30pm at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. All who were lucky enough to know Luis are welcome.
