Luong Kim Cao's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Luong Kim Cao
Luong Kim Cao, 99, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at home. Born on August 30, 1926, in Thu Duc, Vietnam, Luong Cao was a woman of kindness, intelligence, grace, and unwavering integrity. From a young age, she distinguished herself through academic excellence, passed her primary classes, and entered into the prestige ‘Ao Tim’ School, where she received a full scholarship for tuition and boarding. After graduating from ‘Ao Tim’ school in 1946, she received pedagogy training to become an elementary school teacher in 1949. She began her fulfilling teaching career at Cho Quan Elementary school, where she earned respect from other teachers, as well as the principal. Cho Quan Elementary school was also the place where her heart melted when she met the principal’s son, who eventually became her loving husband for seventy-one years.
In 1985, Luong Cao immigrated to the United States to reunite with her oldest daughter, Lan Huong, and her family. Leaving behind her house, her plantation, close-knit family as well as cherished friends was not an easy decision. However, she was driven by a steadfast commitment to provide a brighter future for her two younger children, Liem and Nhan. Starting anew in Garland Texas, Luong faced the challenges of a new culture, language, and ways of life with strength and remarkable determination. She became a homemaker and a nanny, taking care of her grandson, Jimmy, and later her granddaughters Jennifer, Stephanie, and Lisa.
Luong was a kind, nurturing, and generous soul who did not shy away from hard work and was always a good support, someone her husband and her children could count on when life got tough. She always gave it 110% on everything she put her hands on. She found joy in simple pleasures: tending the garden, walking around the neighborhoods, traveling, taking ESL classes at night/ weekends, cooking her favorite dishes, and making desserts for her beloved grandchildren.
Those who knew Luong will remember her warm smile, her kindness, and her willingness to help and nurture those facing difficulties in life. Her legacy of love, compassion, hospitality, and strive to do better will live on through all who were fortunate to have known her. We, her children, grandchildren, and extended family will hold her dear in our hearts as we say goodbye to our extraordinary mom/grandma who instilled good values in us, and who always supported us her entire life. We are all better people because of you, Luong Cao! Your love has become an integral part of our souls, and your memories have been forever etched in our hearts. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
