Lurlene Roberts' Obituary
Lurlene Roberts, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, at the age of 95.
Born in Bryan, Texas, on April 1, 1930, Lurlene endured the loss of both parents as a young child and was raised at Buckner Orphanage in Dallas. Her resilience and grace led her to become the oldest surviving orphan honored at the annual Buckner banquet—recognized for her remarkable journey and lifelong faith.
On September 1, 1950, she married her soulmate, Mac Roberts. Their devoted marriage lasted 72 years until Mac’s passing in 2023, exemplifying a lifetime of love, loyalty, and commitment. She was preceded in death by her beloved son Bruce Roberts in 2002, as well as all her siblings Vera, Tommy and Bobby who passed away over the years.
Lurlene dedicated more than two decades to the City of Dallas Fire and Rescue, retiring in 1994. In retirement, she transformed her lifelong passion for sewing into a global ministry—creating beautiful dresses for little girls and sending them to orphans around the world. Her compassion inspired others in her church to join her mission, expanding the reach of her kindness year after year.
She is survived by her daughter Dianne Beattie; her son Phillip Roberts and Gabriel Garcia; grandchildren Jonathan Beattie, Gregory Beattie, Elizabeth and Corey Raney, Brandon and Elizabeth Roberts; Six great-grandchildren—Morphius, Asher, Phoenix, Kyleigh, Millie, Brynlee and three great-great-grandchildren—Karter, Demetrius, and Alecia.
Her family, friends, and all who knew her will forever carry her legacy of kindness, faith, and generosity.
Her memory lives on in the generations she inspired, the children she comforted, and the countless blessings she bestowed through her life of service with helping those in need.
