Luther "Nugent" Oliphant, Jr.'s Obituary
Luther “Nugent” Oliphant, Jr. was born on May 16, 1931 in Houston, Texas to Luther Nugent Oliphant, Sr. and Grace Lealma Rains. He passed from this life to his new life on September 2, 2016. He is survived by sisters, Sylvia Gallo, Charlotte Manghum, and Maxine Montfort. Nugent is father to Bart Oliphant, Brad Oliphant, and Londa Hebert. He has one grandson, Matthew, and a great grandson, Harlan. He leaves many family members and friends who celebrate the memories of his life. Nugent attended North Dallas High School and graduated from Texas A&M in 1952. At Texas A&M, he was a member of the corp and went on to join the Air Force, serving as a 1st Lieutenant during the Korean War. Later in his life, in 1982, he married Rita Howard Obar, his high school sweetheart. He had a thriving Go Cart company, Go Carts Plus and Shake, Rattle & Roll. Nugget is a Christ follower and both he and Rita belonged to Northway Christian Church, spending many years serving there. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Restland Funeral Home in the Floral Hill section. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted into Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243.
