Luther Frank Thortis' Obituary
THORTIS, LUTHER FRANK born January 20, 1926 in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina and passed away December 26, 2012 in McKinney, Texas. Luther served in WWII in the U.S. Marine Corp in the South Pacific. He loved his children and grandchildren and he was an Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints. Luther was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Lucy Thortis; wife, Odell Thortis; son, Frankie Wayne Thortis; sister, Liz Atkinson and brother, Irving Thortis. He is survived by his present wife, Dora Thortis; sons, Ray Thortis (Louise), Bobby Thortis (Liz), Greg Thortis (Michelle) and Tommy Thortis; daughter, Desiree; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Smith and Mary Alice Warren. Visitation will be Friday, December 28, 2012 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Restland Wildwood Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation, 2223 S. Buckner, Ste. 250, Dallas, Texas 75227-8647.
