Lyman Andrew "Andy" Lenox's Obituary
LYMAN ANDREW (ANDY) LENOX entered into his heavenly home on February 5, 2024 surrounded by his loving wife Carlene, and loved ones. Andy was born on February 19, 1940 in Fort Worth, Texas to Lyman and Margaret Lenox.
Andy graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with a minor in Mathematics. He had a successful career in Management in the area of Network Design Engineering at Southwestern Bell (AT&T) where he retired after 25 years. Following retirement, he joined Citizens Communications where he enjoyed working in Management for several years until the company relocated to New York.
One of Andy’s favorite things to do was to vacation each May with Carlene at Disney World in Florida. He and Carlene always enjoyed going to the State Fair of Texas each year with Teri and Scott which became a tradition for them. He loved playing golf and was a member of the Richardson Senior Golf League which meets weekly. He was an avid reader, especially reading the Bible, and books authored by Louis L’Amour, John Grisham, David Baldacci and Robert Ludlum. He loved sports, especially the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys, both attending games and watching them on TV. In his younger years, he was an excellent baseball player, playing 3rd base. He loved spending time with Carlene working in their large flower garden each spring and summer.
Andy and Carlene are longtime residents of Richardson, Texas and have been active members of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano for over 40 years. Andy prayed beautiful, heartfelt prayers and his favorite phrase he said quite often was, “Let Go and Let God.” He had a great laugh and was always positive, upbeat, friendly, and an encourager to anyone he met. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Andy is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carlene, who he always referred to as his True Love and the love of his life. He is also survived by his sister Mary Jane Deere (Bill), sisters-in-law Teri Jones (Scott), and Betty Ann Reiter (Wayne), brothers-in-law Jerry Cunningham and Bob Leaumont, and a large extended family. Andy is preceded in death by both his parents, his sister, Nancy Cunningham, and his sister-in-law, Deeanna Leaumont.
