Lyman Arthur McLane's Obituary
Lyman A. McLane, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 3rd, 2015. Lyman was born December 18, 1915 in La Grange Park, Illinois, and graduated from Northwestern University in 1939. Lyman’s life was rich with a long, dedicated career at Campbell Taggart, where he spent thirty-three years in the Transportation Management department in Dallas. He is remembered for his outstanding achievements during his career, including his admittance to practice before the Interstate Commerce Commission, his certification as a member of the American Society of Traffic and Transportation, and his testimony before the Senate Committee in Washington D.C. on truck deregulation. He served as President of the Private Truck Operators Association of Texas. His professional expertise culminated in instructing courses at Southern Methodist University and Eastfield College of the Dallas County Community College District as well as holding positions on the advisory committees of Eastfield College, Mountain View College, and the Texas Transportation Institute at Texas A&M University. In his personal life, he dedicated his time to his practice of Christian Science, serving as President and First Reader at Third Church of Christ, Scientist, and President and a member of the Board at Fifth Church of Christ, Scientist. In his retirement he logged over three thousand hours volunteering at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, restoring Model A cars, and building large-scale model boats. Lyman is survived by his children, Penny Blackburn, Sandi Tarrant, Nancy Philips, Greg McLane, Jerri Mayer, Bobbie Neubert, and David Neubert as well as his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and loving friends. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Booth McLane; second wife, Mildred Montgomery McLane; third wife, Miriam Sines McLane; and fourth wife, Bettie Neubert McLane. His family will hold a private memorial at their home.
