M. J. "Jerry" Behne's Obituary
M.J. “Jerry” Behne, devoted family man and attorney, passed away on March 9, 2021 at age 85 after a life well lived. As he was so often during his life, he was in good spirits and surrounded by loved ones.
Jerry was born in Burlington, Texas, on August 18, 1935. After serving in the Army during the Korean War, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas. He then continued on to get his Juris Doctor degree from Southern Methodist University. In addition to his private practice, he had a 28-year career at Texas Instruments.
Jerry loved being in the great outdoors, from fishing the Brazos River as a boy, to golfing in Hawaii as a retiree. He loved to travel with the love of his life, wife of 62 years Sharon Kehl Behne. He is survived by Sharon, son Mike and his wife Vivian, daughter Diane, and son Tim and his wife Mary. Jerry was also survived by, and most proud of, his nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Jerry was a man of service, humor and love. Virtually to the day of his passing, he served others with his sharp legal mind. His gentle manner made him welcome everywhere his clients might be -- in their homes, rest homes and even hospitals. His neighbors will fondly remember him as the guy hitting whiffle golf balls in the front yard. Jerry surely possessed the gift of charm and never missed an opportunity to compliment a pretty lady.
