Mabel Beatrice Grissom's Obituary
Mabel Beatrice Ulman Grissom, affectionately known as “Granny”, age 93, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2017 in Garland, TX. She was born on January 14, 1924 in Tawas City, MI to Frank and Elizabeth Ulman, the youngest of nine children. Mabel married her beloved husband, Bernie Grissom on April 22, 1945 in Tawas City, MI. She was a devoted wife of 41 years until his death in 1986. She worked at Texas Instruments for 22 years before retiring to care for her husband. Mabel loved gardening, birdwatching, and bowling, but most important to her was her family. She was very loving and compassionate to her five daughters, eight grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren and will be dearly missed. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband and sons-in-law Don Breedlove and Jack Griffin. She is survived by daughters Patricia Yaryan (Mike), Susan Breedlove, Barbara Griffin, Janice Higginbotham (Steve), and Diane Holloway (Clyde); grandchildren Jason Eades (Stephanie), Jaime Yaryan, Jeff Yaryan (Brooklynn), Kimberly Corso (Isaac), Stephanie Hierro (JT), James R. Higginbotham, Kyle Higginbotham, and Robert Holloway; great-grandchildren Jessica Eades, William Yaryan, Darian Ernst, Tatom Eades, Michael Hierro, Ryan Ernst, Bryce Hierro, Landen Corso, Brooks Corso, Kennedy Higginbotham, Piper Corso, and twins Jaxon and Brayden Yaryan due in March. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Nhu Tran and her staff at Healing Companion Medical Clinic for their many years of care and support, the staff at Abba Care Assisted Living, and the Esteem Healthcare hospice staff, nurses and aides, with a special thank you to Chaplain Karen. Graveside funeral services will be held at Restland Funeral Home on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 2:00 PM and is open to extended family and friends.
