Mabel E. Montgomery's Obituary
Mabel Ethelwin Anderson Montgomery passed away Dec. 1, 2009. She was born Sept. 10, 1912 in Lake Creek, Texas as one of eight children of George T. Anderson and Nannie Lee Petitfils Anderson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William Milford “Monty” Montgomery, and her son, William Byron Montgomery. She is survived by her daughter Mary Ann Whitmire, daughter-in-law Peggy Montgomery and grandchildren Rick Montgomery and wife Denise, Randy Montgomery and wife Vickie, Keith Whitmire and wife Catrina, and Kathi Montgomery Bryan and husband David. Her great-grandchildren are Nicholas Montgomery, Jennifer Montgomery, Katie Montgomery, Matthew Bryan, Alison Montgomery, Benjamin Montgomery, Patrick Bryan and Connor Whitmire. Although raised in Delta County, and attending school in Paris, Texas, she spent most of her life in Dallas. Mabel was a longtime member of Munger Place United Methodist Church. She worked at the Sears on Ross Avenue before being employed many years at Texas Instruments until her retirement in 1977. Known as “Nanny” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Mabel was an excellent cook and homemaker. She enjoyed family get-togethers, church events and working in her vegetable garden at her lake house near Paris, Texas.
