Mable Jean Carson's Obituary
Mable Jean Carson, born April 4, 1928, in Fannin County, TX, died peacefully in her sleep on April 5, 2017, one day after her 89th birthday. Mable was the daughter of James H. Smith and Electa Smith. She graduated from Crozier Tech High School in1946. In 1953 she married James Richard Carson and they settled in North Dallas. Founding members of the Brookhaven Country Club, they were blessed with many friends and enjoyed an active social life. Mable was the secretary to the Dean of Southwest Medical School. She was a source of nurture and support to many children and friends. As an avid gardener, her yard was always the focal point of the neighborhood. Mable was preceded in death by her husband James Richard Carson, her brothers Nolan, Curtis and CD Smith, her sisters Cornelia Grayson and Kathleen Renshaw. She is survived by her sons; Ben and his wife Ann, and Don and his wife Susanna, their seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; her sister-in-laws Violet Smith and Evelyn Smith; a number of nieces, nephews, and close friends. Services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 8, 2017 in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Park. Graveside service will follow in Field of Honor and a reception will be held immediately following the graveside service in the Restland Reception Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
