Mabry O'Nell Owen's Obituary
OWEN, MABRY O’NELL YANTIS was born and raised as the 2nd oldest of four children in the West TX town of Rotan, a place of harsh elements and endless skies that began the formation of her strong character and devout Christian faith. Her parents, L.N. and Nann Yantis, worked the family farm and Mabry was charged with “Big Sister” duties for her siblings – Novelle, Bob and Nancy. In 1939, at age 18, Mabry married Rudy Owen, of nearby Stanford. By the early 1940’s, they had started a thriving jewelry business in Abilene and Clyde. In 1952 they moved with their growing family, Rudy, Jr, Mel and Rebecca to Lovington, New Mexico where they became an integral part of the community. Most Lovington brides depended on Mabry at Rudy Owen Jewelers to select rings, china and silver. She wrapped each gift with her signature pink satin roses. Husband, Rudy; and brother, Bob precede her in death. Precious Bible Study Fellowship members, neighbors, children, and her 9 grandchildren and 13 “greats” filled Mabry’s life with joy. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 21 at Restland Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bible Study Fellowship, www.bsfinternational.org
