Dearest Mac– I was hoping to write something pithy and clever, something both light and poignant if that's possible. I was hoping to write something that would bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart. Something you wouldn't even need to edit. But, it seems that even writers can't always find the right words to express such complex feelings and thoughts. You'll be missed. No, you'll be more than missed. There will be a permanent hole in the lives of all who call you Dad and Grandad and Friend and Mentor. Those of us who have benefitted from the gift of your friendship for so many years won't easily break the habit of wanting to share a thought, email you a picture, or break bread at a French restaurant with you. We will miss your delightful conversation, your humorous stories, your well crafted communiques. In a word, we'll miss your daily presence. And yet, we are grateful for so much. For the opportunity to have been blessed for so many years with your loyal friendship, your insight, and your wisdom that you have so generously shared with us, replete with common sense and down-to-earth, enduring values. We selfishly thank the Lord for letting you stay with us for so long before the angels and your spirit guide take you back to your beloved Reba and those cherished others on the Other Side. Thank you. Thank you for the pleasure of your company during good times and your loyalty during bad times. Thank you for writing and publishing your memoirs. Thank you for everything. Love always…until we meet again. Tricia
