Mack Slater Burt, 81, of Dallas, TX passed away Friday, May 18, 2018, to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Services will be held 10 AM, Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Prestonwood Baptist Church Plano. Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Restland Funeral Home.Mack Slater Burt was born in Dallas, TX on September 4, 1936, to Earle B. and Velma Burt. Mack graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, where he participated in football and track. He attended college at Oklahoma A&M, North Texas State, and Southern Methodist University. A year after starting his sales career with Kathy Office Supplies, he was hired by IBM in the Copier Sales Division. His first year, he became the number one salesman for IBM winning many awards. His accomplishments throughout his career as Staff Manager resulted in his membership in IBM’s exclusive 100% Club. After retirement, Mack served for many years as Secretary and Treasurer of the Opex Club formed by IBM retirees who meet on a monthly basis for dinner and fellowship.Mack and Jo Ann are members of Prestonwood Baptist, where Mack was director of a Bible class, “Saturday Night in Depth” and attended Bible classes weekly, including the Pastor’s Class, Dr. Pauley’s Class, and Neal Jeffrey’s Mens Bible Class. He volunteered every Friday to show new people all about Prestonwood Baptist, and take them on tours of the Church, where he also served as an usher.He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who loved the Dallas Cowboys family gatherings and Campisi’s pizza. Mack’s many hobbies included an unbelievable computer-indexed collection of over 23,000 movies (DVDs) which he shared with friends and family. He played guitar from age six and still loved music at 81. He had to give up golf in 2009 as he developed Wegener’s Granulomatisis, which restricted his active life, but Mack never gave up. He had deep faith in the Lord, He had deep faith and always put the Lord at the top of his priority list.Mack was tender-hearted, quick-witted, and always had the right words to fit any given situation. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who loved family gatherings. He will be remembered and missed by his nieces, extended family, and friends.Mack was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Don Burt.He is survived by his loving wife, Jo Ann Burt; daughter, Kim Pauline Burt and partner, Michael Pugh; sons, Rick Earle Burt and wife, Brenda, Chris Alan Burt; step-children, Carla Cunningham and Christopher B. Parrent; grandchildren, Travis Burt, Slater Burt, Jack Cunningham, and Zackary Parrent.The family request visiting hours be observed on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at 10:00 AM at Prestonwood Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Robert White, Adam Hornquist, Scott Hornquist, Ron Stephens, Jack Cunningham, Ryan Pugh, Randal Rust, Bill White, and Stephen Gorton.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PowerPoint Ministries of Prestonwood.Funeral arrangements for Mr. Mack Slater Burt have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, which is located at 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243, and can be reached at (972) 238-7111.
