Madge Helen Williams' Obituary
Madge Helen Williams finally made it home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 18, 2024, following a hard-fought battle with lung cancer. She was born on July 13, 1929, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Russell and Jeanette Roach. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ben F. Williams, her son Roger S. Williams, her brother Russell P. Roach Jr., and her great-granddaughters Alivia and Kinslee Hiatt. She is survived by her daughters Meg Sherard and Kathy (Tom) Hiatt, daughter-in-law Kathy Williams, grandchildren Ron Sherard, Corinne (Brandt) Atchison, Matt (Amy) Hiatt, Nathan (Diana) Hiatt, Brandon Sherard, Christopher (Amber) Hiatt, Amber (Zach) Davis, and James Williams as well as 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Madge loved the Lord with all her heart and wanted everyone to know Him. She learned about him from a speaker at Christian Women’s Club in North Dallas when she was in her mid-40s and from that point on her life was forever changed. She went on to become a speaker with CWC, going anywhere she was invited to share her story. She loved to travel and to take road trips, especially when she was the driver. She was still driving just a few months before her death.
She was a wonderful homemaker, an excellent cook, and a skilled seamstress. She loved to do crossword puzzles and sudoku. In her mid-40s, with a critically ill husband, she found it necessary to go to work with a job that would allow her flexible hours, and consequently she became a very successful realtor. Her philosophy was not to just sell a house to her clients, but to help them find a home. She was widowed at the age of 54.
Madge was a founding member of Prestonwood Baptist Church and eventually went to work there as the wedding coordinator. Later, she became a trained Grief Share counselor and volunteered in that position until she contracted COVID in December of 2020. She also took classes to learn how to be a makeup artist so that she could help with the annual Christmas program and was instrumental in the formation of the widows group. She was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Anyone who knew her knew that she was strong-willed, stubborn, and fiercely independent, all attributes that helped her live to the age of 95. She will be truly missed, but her loved ones know she is no longer suffering, and she is home.
Madge will be laid to rest on December 30th, 2024, at 3pm, at the Restland Memorial Park Garden of the Court of Good Shepherd.
There will be a Celebration of Life service on January 9, 2025, at 10:00am in the Faith Chapel at Prestonwood Baptist Church, 6801 W. Park Blvd, Plano, TX
