Mae Gusler's Obituary
GUSLER, MAE PETERSON, of Rockwall, beloved wife of 52 years, slipped away to be with the Lord on May 4th. She died after a four year battle with Alzheimer’s. Born Sept. 16, 1924, in Green Mountain, NC, the 7th of 10 children to Ben and Floria Peterson. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She was dearly loved for her sweet nature, beautiful spirit and quick wit. Mae was preceded in death by her son, Michael Wayne Gusler, her parents and brothers Zeke, H.T., Guy and Horton Peterson and sisters Lena Coffey and Jaquline Honeycutt. She is survived by her devoted husband, Frank ‘Gus’; dear sisters, Jane Herrell, Ruth Hodge and Pauline Vaughn. Mae was truly a soul mate and contributing partner. She was an excellent homemaker with many talents in quilting, sewing, knitting and gardening. Mae also crewed many years with her husband while racing their many sailboats and an excellent 1st Mate while cruising their power boats and seeing the lakes and rivers in the US and Canada. She was also a wonderful companion during their many years of RV traveling; she had visited 49 of the 50 US states and a number of Canadian Provinces. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of choice. Visitation will be Friday, May 9, 2008 from 6:00 ‘ 8:00 pm at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Restland Memorial Chapel with a reception following interment.
