Mahlon Russell Kruse's Obituary
Passed away peacefully on November 30, 2009 to the loving arms of the Lord. Born December 9, 1920 in Dallas, Texas to Karl and Sadie Kruse. A 1938 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, he went on to obtain his engineering degree from Southern Methodist University and his M.B.A. from the University of Bridgeport. Mahlon served his country with the Marine Corps, 2nd Division in the Solomon Islands during World War II. He worked for Mobil Oil Company as a Project Manager for 32 years, overseeing development of offshore drilling sites around the world including the North Sea, Gulf of Mexico and Nigeria. An avid tennis player and patient coach, Mahlon went on to become a Master Racket Technician. A devoted Christian, he served as a lay reader and chalice bearer at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church for over twenty years. Beloved brother, husband, father and grandfather, Mahlon is survived by his sister Carol, his wife of 65 years, Anne, and their children Lynn and Edward Herrera, Russell and Chrissy Kruse, David Kruse, and Ruth and Jim Bauer, their grandchildren Daniel and Donna Harmon, Toby and Vanessa Kruse, Danielle and Tao Ryce, Rachel and Mark Cueva, Edward Paul Herrera, Tyler Kruse, Lewis and Rose Bauer, and Sam Bauer, as well as their great grandchildren Shorey, Madeline, Asa and Manny. A private interment will be followed by a memorial service at St. Christopher’s, 7900 Lovers Lane, Dallas, Texas at 2 pm on Friday, December 4, 2009. Memorial donations may be made to St. Christopher’s or The Arc of Dallas, 12700 Hillcrest, Dallas, Texas 75230. Mahlon’s family wishes to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Medical City for their empathetic and dedicated care. Mahlon was a kind and compassionate man with a joy for life. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
