Maitland Walsh's Obituary
WALSH, MAITLAND of Pottsboro TX passed away peacefully at home on December 8, 2011. Born November 29, 1924 in Dallas TX, Maitland is preceded in death by his wife Blanche and grandchildren, Amy and Ryan Walsh. He is survived by his children, Cynthia McGuire and husband Phil, Dynese Abraham and husband Jerry, Michael Walsh, Rebecca Walsh and Patrick Walsh and wife Georgette, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Raised during the Great Depression, Maitland acquired a strong sense of responsibility to his family and country. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a 2nd Lieutenant who flew C 46’s & C 47’s . With his wife of 65 years, he helped raise five children and instilled in them the importance of family. In retirement Maitland resumed his passion. A gifted writer, he distilled his observations and “insights” into vignettes. Whether humorous, poignant or provocative, his stories revealed the human condition. “Vignettes”, Maitland’s human interest column was featured in several north Texas newspapers. His writings provide a legacy to his family. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, December 14th at Restland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
