I knew Lee from way before he started playing banjo. His mom was my bus driver to PGC. My family and his went to Shamrock Shores Church and both our fathers were elders together. He was a fantastic person and quite funny. I’m very sorry to hear about his passing.

Lee was a fantastic banjo player. In the early 60s - probably from his performances at Six Flags Over Texas - he was invited to perform at the Buccaneer Days festival in Corpus Christi. Somehow, I was chosen to accompany him on piano, so off we went to Corpus to play on a stage on one of the streets downtown. Over a couple of days we played "Yes Sir That's My Baby" and "Bye Bye Blues" two or three times a day - to adoring crowds, of course. Pretty heady stuff for a 15-year-old piano player who had never performed in such a venue. Lee was two years younger than me in school so we weren't classmates, but he was a sweet, talented person. RIP.
Lee and I were office mates for several years in our private counseling practices. What a blessing it has been for me to have had that relationship!
During one of our annual Christmas lunches involving several therapists and family members, everyone was asked to share a New Year's resolution. Lee was one of the first to speak, and with his customary wit and humor said, "Work less and play more!" The next person to speak was far more sober and serious, saying that he and his wife had decided to devote more time to the Lord and His service in the coming year.
There was a moment of silence, when Lee spoke up saying, "I'd like to change my resolution!" Once again, he brought down the house!

Stephanie and family - My friendship with Lee goes back almost 50 years as a good friend, colleague, and brother in Christ. There are so many things about Lee I will miss - his wit, wisdom, humor, and positive attitude are just a few things. I cannot walk through the Amberton University facility without thinking about him and the good times we had, including a fair amount of pranks! Lee touched so many lives, including mine. I am praying for comfort for you, Blake, Ryan, Cameron, and the whole family. Our Lord and Savior is holding Lee close and he is happy and at peace. Praise God that one day we will see him again!

Lee and I became best friends in the seventh grade. Even though we went to different schools, church brought us together. We spent weekends in each others' homes, summers at Six Flags, and worked in a concession stand in the Cotton Bowl. Go Cowboys! I went on vacation one summer with his family - What a great time we had!
I moved to New Mexico the summer before my junior year of high school. Lee and I kept in touch and agreed to be roommates in college in Abilene - and we were. We lived in the dorm and then in an old mobile home we rented. We travelled back and forth to Dallas regularly and went on spring-break escapades. A girl wanted to impress Lee with a home-cooked meal but she didn't know how to cook. She got a friend to help who became my wife. Lee was my best man in our wedding.
I was always proud to be with Lee due to his good looks, charm, and popularity. He was neat, had style, and we always kept each other laughing. We never had an argument. I was forever amazed at his musical talent!
I will always cherish our friendship.
